This tour has a well balanced pace with two-night stays in three of the five centres: Rome, Tuscany and Sorrento and overnight stays in Assisi and Venice. The driving days are of a comfortable length with several stops en route.

Day 1 – ARRIVAL IN ROME
Welcome to Rome, a glorious city filled with Classical antiquities, medieval buildings, Renaissance palaces and baroque churches. On arrival at Rome’s Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport, you’ll find your driver waiting holding a sign with your name for transfer to the hotel located in the heart of the old city. Today, take advantage of a day at leisure, so rest up as you prepare to embark on your Italian adventure!
Day 2 – ROME SIGHTSEEING
Enjoy an in-depth 6 hours sightseeing tour with your driver and local guide who will take you inside the Vatican Museums to gaze upon the treasures of the Popes. Enjoy clear commentary of your personal tour guide as you admire Michelangelo’s famous ceiling inside the Sistine Chapel. Now enter St Peter’s Basilica to wonder at another of his works, the emotive ‘Pieta’. Then cross the Tiber to visit the Colosseum, scene of many gladiatorial contests. After seeing the Roman Forum, the rest of the day is yours to sightsee or shop. For your dinner the driver will be pleased to suggest and reserve a good restaurant according to your preferences.
Day 3 – ROME – ASSISI
Leave Rome at 9.30am and follow the valley of the River Tiber to the hills of Umbria, which form part of the Apennines. Your destination is the peaceful hill-top town of Assisi, the home of St Francis. Visit the Basilica of St Mary of the Angels, built on the site of the original Porziuncule Chapel foundations, then continue up Mount Subasio to the town. Step inside the huge Basilica, built in the 13th century after St. Francis’ death, where the frescoes by Giotto heralded a new era in Italian art. Overnight in a selected hotel located in the area.
Day 4 – ASSISI – BOLOGNA – VENICE
Depart at 9am with your driver for a delightful day of sightseeing on your way to the romantic city of Venice. You’ll stop to Bologna an old university city with lavish porticoes walkways and squares, fine historic buildings, and an interesting medieval centre. Bologna is known for its beauty and great cuisine…as you’ll get there for lunch time, why not try one of the local restaurants? Ask to your driver for suggestions! Around 2pm continue your journey to Venice: as you know cars are banned in the old city so your driver will drop you at the taxi-boat terminal to reach by private motor-boat your next hotel located in down-town. Rest of the day at leisure…
Day 5 – VENICE SIGHTSEEING & GONDOLA
After breakfast meet at the hotel our local guide for an informative 3 hours walking tour of the old city: Palladian churches and 13th century palaces in St Mark’s Square, see the Doges’ Palace, connected to the prisons by the Bridge of Sighs. It was from here that Casanova made his daring escape. Admire the mosaics of the Basilica and watch one of the few remaining masters blow molten glass into a unique creation at a Venetian glass-blowing factory. After a break for lunch & relax enjoy a wonderful private Gongola tour across the most hidden part of Venice!
Day 6 – VENICE – FLORENCE
At 10am a private boat will take your from hotel directly to the meeting point with our driver for the transfer to Florence. Bid farewell to magical Venice, and drive along the scenic Brenta Canal with its magnificent Palladian villas, once the summer residences of Venetian nobility. Cross the plain of the Po River and traverse the Apennines, the hilly backbone of Italy, to reach the Arno valley and after the capital of the Tuscan region: Florence. Check in at your hotel in the centre of the old city and rest of the day at leisure for relax….
Day 7 – FLORENCE SIGHTSEEING
After breakfast join our local guide for a 3 hours walking tour and highlights: visit the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo’s monumental figure of David. Continue to the multi-coloured marble Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiore to see Giotto’s belltower and ‘Gates of Paradise’ before visiting the Piazza della Signoria, still the political heart of Florence. The area around Santa Croce Basilica is famous for the quality of its luxury goods; see a demonstration of leather work in the very place this craft first established itself. Then, there’s free time to shop for Florence’s finest or continue sightseeing by yourself…! After lunch you can decide if go to Pisa to admire the famous Leaning Tower where elaborate steps have been taken to prevent this landmark from falling over. Don’t miss in the same area the Cathedral and Baptistery. Or perhaps you prefer to have a relaxing car tour to the Chianti area and taste some excellent wines at a local winery?…is up to you! Both are 3 hours tour.
Day 8 – FLORENCE – POMPEII – AMALFI COAST
Your driver will transfer you to the train station for your ride to Naples, chance to travel in first class on the super fast and comfortable ES italian high speed train. Reach Naples after only 2 hours and 50 minutes. At your arrival to Naples find our local driver waiting for you for a pleasant journey to Sorrento. On the way you will stop to the ruins of the ancient Pompeii. Together with our local guide visit this city which was buried under a thick layer of ash and pumice after the eruption of nearby Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D., a disaster that nevertheless preserved the contents of Pompeii with fascinating precision. After the tour continue to your hotel in the beautiful Amalfi Coast area.
Day 9 – AMALFI COAST
A private full day excursion (7 hours) along the breathtaking Amalfi Coastline with your driver is sure to be a highlight to remember. You will make stops in three of the delightful towns nestled in its bays: Positano, an elegant and colourful town with a history of attracting celebrities and artists, Amalfi, a picturesque seaside resort that is also the largest town on the coast and Ravello, the highest town on the coast where the photo opportunities are unmatchable. Return to your hotel around 5pm. The driver will be pleased to suggest and reserve a good restaurant in town!
Day 10 – CAPRI ISLAND
This is going to be a full day on a wonderful island..! At 9aml meet at the port our local tour guide and together embark on the ferry to Capri – at the arrival enjoy the guide visit from the colourful port of Marina Grande to the glamorous Piazzetta where the world’s beautiful people hang out; from the ruins of Emperor Tiberius’ villas to the Charterhouse of San Giacomo and the spectacular Via Krupp. Take then the chair lift to the top of Monte Solaro and walk along paths leading to incredible rock formations such as the Natural Arch and the Faraglioni. Have lunch at the famous Piazzetta in one of the typical restaurants, our tour guide will be pleased to suggest the best according to your preferences. In the afternoon visit of the famous Blue Grotto (if the sea level isn’t too high). Return to hotel by 5pm.
Day 11 – CIAO, CIAO ITALIA…!
The driver will pick you up at your hotel for your private transfer to Rome Airport.
